In our Mumbai operation we have trained 3 women to recycle soap full time and 26 local women to become local hygiene ambassadors. Each month they deliver soap and hygiene trainings to over 2,000 children. They also deliver soap and hygiene trainings for adults and children at medical centers in the Kalwa slums to ensure that the good hygiene habits stick.

My experience with Sundara

“I have gained a skill and am having a wonderful experience learning how to recycle soap. I am also proud that I earn something for myself and can be financially independent. It makes me happy to be part of a social intervention that is not only good for the environment but also for the health of children that I see all around me in the slums. If this is done in other cities of India, it will certainly make a big difference to the quality of health of many children in our country who desperately need it.”
